Prayer Mentoring: The unexpected

This is a guest post. Lee Wise ran the internship program and taught evangelism at BBS when I attended there.

A Prayer For Today…

Joy In The Unexpected

“Lord, I thank you for the honor of knowing Someone who blesses me in so many ways, in so many unexpected places, during so many unexpected times in my life.    And today, Father, should I not so naturally discover ‘a joy piece’ within, I ask that You in your faithfulness would turn my heart your way to see You as I should. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!”

Joy In The Unexpected – Reflections

Sometimes it just happens:

In the most unexpected ways,
At entirely unexpected moments,
We take joy in the moment…

And acknowledge within the amazing part God has played in the process.

We realize more of his working,
Appreciate his graciousness to us,
And rejoice when we do.

The “size” doesn’t matter.  It’s not the size: it’s the fact.  The fact that it does happen and we recognize the reality of the Lord in one more unique way.

A Prayer For The Day…

 Reflecting On Scripture

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. (Psalm 27:7)**

Manic Monday: More thoughts on coffee

Coffee amazes me. In dealing with some health issues last week it often came up the benefits of drinking what I affectionately call liquid love. Caffeine or not coffee is good stuff!

No doubt the best time to drink coffee is on Monday or Saturday mornings… One for the much needed warm embrace, the other to enjoy golden sun rays, kids playing in their pajamas, and fresh cooked french toast while still wearing a bathrobe.

We often look to big or thrilling events, but is this best? The weight of life is carried by the little things. Coveting breeds in the desire or focus for big things. We miss the little moments than can often leave a larger impact.

On the ‘Monday’ of all Mondays, God comforted Elijah. God placed him on cliff with the comment that He would pass by. After all these huge cataclysmic events, God was not there. And then a gentle breeze, a whisper, and God was there. A small thing.

Thank God for the little things like coffee!

Manic Monday: The little things…

As I work at my computer this morning, my youngest slept on my lap. A bad cold is bothering him. In these cases he just wants to be held or his back rubbed. These are little things. Little things make life worthwhile. They are seemingly insignificant, but leave the greatest impact.

So, as I rub my little guy’s back as he sleeps peacefully on my lap, I am reminded of the little things of life. Little things are the whispers of life. What specially little touch can you perform or enjoy today that makes Monday special? We need to enjoy the little things.
